What is polymer clay?

Polymer clay is a versatile, synthetic modeling material composed of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), plasticizers, and pigments (for color). Once baked and cured, polymer clay becomes a durable and lightweight material suitable for jewelry and crafts. Our polymer clay jewelry is often painted, and mixed with gold flecks, and other materials.

Are polymer clay earrings heavy?

No! Polymer clay earrings are generally lightweight, and they will not weigh your earlobes down, making them comfortable for extended wear. Polymer clay earrings generally weigh less than a quarter (or 2oz). Clay earrings are lighter than metal or ceramic alternatives. Please note, that earrings with metal accents will may be slightly heavier.

Are polymer clay earrings durable?

Yes! Polymer clay earrings are durable and resilient. They will have a slight bend and can flex (but not too much or they will snap). Clay jewelry can withstand wear and handling. With proper care, your clay earrings can maintain their beauty and shape over time. Please refer to the polymer care card instructions for long lasting use.

Are polymer clay earrings flexible?

Yes and no. Finished polymer clay earrings will have a slight bend but they are not flexible (do not bend a lot). They should maintain a solid and stable form, providing durability and structure. If you force the earrings to bend too much, they WILL snap, resulting in eligibility for a return or exchanges. More info regarding refunds, returns and cancellations is linked at the bottom of the site.

My polymer clay earrings broke! What do I do?

Please contact us for further inspection. If the clay snaps, you may be able use a strong super glue or a glue alternative to reattach some pieces. For added strength, you may be able to reinforce the repaired area with additional clay or glue for a stronger bond. There is no guarantee this is an absolute solution. Some damages may be beyond repair.

Is polymer clay toxic?

Although polymer clay is synthetically made of PVC base, it is not toxic to your hands or earlobes. If worried, consider wearing it for a few minutes before extended wear.

I have sensitive ears. Can I wear these?

Yes! All earrings have hypoallergenic and nickel-free posts. Most earring posts have stainless steel, raw brass, or gold plating. These materials are cost-effective and less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions (compared to nickel).

Will polymer clay earrings shrink or expand over time?

Nope. Your polymer clay earrings will not shrink or expand. All clay jewelry is safely baked and cured for the best quality. However, extreme exposure to sunlight or heat may cause fading damage. Please store your polymer clay jewelry in a cool, dry place and avoid prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions.

Do polymer clay earrings fade?

Your earrings shouldn’t fade over time as long as you don’t store them in direct sunlight. To keep colors vibrant, refer to the polymer clay card instructions.

Can polymer clay earrings get wet?

Our polymer clay earrings are properly baked and cured, therefore, they’re able water-resistant. It’s advisable to avoid prolonged exposure to water to protect the metal and posts from tarnishing. Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, bathing, or participating in water activities. Water can weaken the glue adhesive and can break. If wet, wipe with a damp cloth for cleaning.

How do I care for my polymer clay earrings?

Treat your earrings with kindness and care!

  • Handle with Care: While durable, avoid dropping or bending the earrings to prevent breakage.

  • Store Properly: Store earrings in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight to maintain their shape and color.

  • Clean Gently: Use a soft, damp cloth to gently wipe the earrings. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaning agents.

  • Avoid Extreme Temperatures: Keep earrings away from extreme heat or cold, as these can affect the integrity of the clay.

If your earring post breaks, you may be able to reattach them with a strong super glue or glue alternative. Please contact us to give an accurate assessment of the damage, to figure out the next best step moving forward.
